Indian Motorcycle Model 841 Specs:

  • 45 cu” tranverse V twin engine
  • 4 speed foot shift
  • shaft drive
  • sprung rear suspension
  • girder style front suspension

History:

The War Department commissioned Indian and Harley Davidson to build 1,000 prototypes based upon a captured German motorcycle.

The main intent of these shaft drive prototypes were to have a motorcycle capable of surviving the send in the North Africa desert. The allies quickly proceeded to capture ground and by the time the prototypes were finished. The bike was no longer needed for the war effort.

The War Department decided to favor the new 4 wheel drive Jeep. Hence only 1056 of these vehicles were produced.
