112 – The 1940 Jiffy Side Stand

TO INCREASE THE LEAN OF THE MACHINE
THE 1940 JIFFY SIDE STAND

The angle at which the motorcycle leans over when resting on the Jiffystand is determined by the angle of the pad (designated in the drawing) at the motorcycle end of the jiffy stand leg.

To increase the lean of any new 1940 machine – remove the jiffy stand leg and file this pad as shown on the drawing. Filing just a small amount from this pad affects the lean of the machine a great deal so do not file too much off at first. By testing and trying you can readily determine just how much to take off.

When assembling the leg back onto the machine – tighten the leg bolt until the toe operating lever protrudes well above the frame when the stand is in an “up” position.
