110 – How To Install The New Indian “Fill-Rite” Battery On All Models-1932 to 1939

HOW TO INSTALL THE NEW INDIAN “FILL-RITE” BATTERY ON ALL MODELS-1932 to 1939

The new Indian “Fill-Rite” battery is so far superior to any other battery that you can use for replacement purposes on
older model machines that we recommend its use. Installation on models from 1932 to 1939 can be accomplished very
simply.

HOW TO MAKE INSTALLATION ON INDIAN 74 MODELS

  1. Remove the old battery from the machine.
  2. On the cradle plate – drill four (4) new holes using a 11/32″ drill as follows:
    A. Drill two holes on the left side of the cradle 3/8″ from the edge – in line with the two original holes.
    B. Drill two holes on the right side 3″ from the left edge of the cradle – also in line with the original holes.
    C. Now – by using an extra anchor strap – one on the right side and one on the left side – the battery can be strapped down securely at both ends to allow accessibility to the “Fill-Rite” vents in the center of the battery.

New Parts Required Are As Follows:

1 – 38441 (anchor strap)1 – 37328 (wing nut)
1 – 38443 (anchor strap)4 – 19A58 (lower nut)
1 – 38445 (bolt)

HOW TO MAKE INSTALLATION ON INDIAN 4 MODELS:

No drilling is necessary on these models because the battery anchor straps are fastened to a lower support plate
running underneath the battery cradle.

  1. For models from 1932 to 1937 (inclusive):
    • With the new battery resting on the cradle – fasten the old anchor strap with its lower support plate – to the front end of the battery.
    • Using a second anchor strap, and another lower support plate – fasten the rear end of the battery to the cradle.

(The lower support plates are placed underneath the cradle at each end of the battery. This allows the anchor straps
to be fastened at both ends securely, allowing accessibility to the “Fill-Rite” vents in the center of the battery.

New Parts Required – as Follows:

1 – 38441 (anchor strap1 – 37328 (wing nut)
1- 38443 (anchor strap)4 – 19A58 (lower nut)
1 – 38445 (bolt)2 – 43005 (lower support plate)

FOR MODELS 1938 AND 1939:

A. Original anchor strap remains in the same position as it now is.

B. Fasten a new anchor strap assembly and lower support plate to the rear end of the battery. (This strap is necessary to keep the battery cover from buckling and loosening at the rear end.)

New Parts Required – as follows:

1 – 38441 (anchor strap1 – 37328 (wing nut)
1- 38443 (anchor strap)4 – 19A58 (lower nuts)
1 – 38445 (bolt)2 – 43005 (lower support plate)

FOR ALL SPORT SCOUT AND JUNIOR SCOUT MODELS:

The standard battery anchorage is perfectly suitable “as is” to allow accessibility to the “Fill-Rite” vents on replacement
installations.
