| Day 1 - Road Trip 2000 | |||
Our day started out Leaving Starklite Cycle around 11:00am, a little late, but at least we are ready for the ride ahead of us. We were allready planing our lunch break for the In-n-Out Burger in Barstow about 1 1/2 hrs away. We then topped the fuel tank at the Flying J and found our first problem of the trip. Oil was spewing all over the side of the hood. After raising the hood, whoever last filled the oil on the rental truck did not replace the oil fill cap. A quick call to the emergency road service number, and they located a cap for us, so only a few minites delay. The neat item this year, is we are able to write these updates in the truck. We sprung for a car adapter for the lap top, so while we are bored, we can work on the website! We also brought along a GPS unit with a Delorme Street atlas so hopefully we can't get lost and we can play on the way. Of course there is allways solitaire on the laptop too!. |

Nevada State Line The View as we crossed the state line into Nevada. If you look close you can see the state sign. |
Primm Nevada Directly accross the Border what do you expect to see? Casinos of course. Primm Nevada is home to 3 Casinos right on the border. So if you can't wait to get to Vegas to loose your money they can help you right accross the California Border |
Buffalo Bills Casino To entice customers, Buffalo Bills offers one of the tallest Coasters, obtaining speeds of over 70mph down the first hill. And I can testify it is a very fun coaster! Of course they also have the obligatory Casino. |
Alas through the desert a mirage appears glittering in the distance, Las Vegas. This is the Mandalay Bay Casino, which has a huge wave pool with a sand beach where you can body surf, and a lazy river raft ride. Next to it is the Luxor Pyramid Hotel. |
Hey, I thought we were in Nevada, it sure looks a lot like the skyline of New York (did we make a wrong turn somewhere |
Uh oh, another wrong turn, how did we end up in Paris? |
For those of you who are really daring, here is a real challenge for you. This is the Stratosphere Tower. At the top of this tower is too thrill rides. One is a roller coaster that swings around the the edge at the very top. The other ride is the space shot. If you look at the picture you see a needle at the top, well this is a ride that you strap yourself into then they propel you to the very top of that tiny needle. Now that's a little scary if your afraid of height. Any takers? |
We'll its time to call this web update over, as it's getting
dark, so I can't take any more pictures. Tune in tomorrow for more
exciting updates from our ROAD TRIP 2000 Destination Davenport Iowa!
Good Night! |
