As we left you yesterday we were stuck in Barstow California with a broken rental truck. Last evening we made several calls and arranged transportation to have our truck towed to Las Vegas which has the closest repair facility.(Picture of us entering Nevada, from the cab of the Peterbuilt Tow-Truck)
Our rental truck and trailer arriving in Las Vegas to be fixed. Needless to say, we got great gas milage between Barstow and Vegas ! It turns out that it was the fuel pump that went bad, which is what we suspected. The mechanic in Barstow thought it was the plugs fouling out. Thanks to the Manager in Vegas who came in to fix our truck on Sunday his day off ! (While the truck was being fixed, we did go to a Casino to Eat. We had a great $5.99 Prime Rib for Lunch, and we actually left without spending any $$$ gambling !!!!, amazing actually) We'll I guess were saving it for the riverboat gambling in Iowa.
When going to Davenport from LA we have two options a Northern route or Southern Route. We were originally going to go the southern route, then when the truck broke down and we had to go to Vegas we changed to the Northern route. We'll, we spoke to some people and we decided that going through Denver at 11,000 ft at 25-35mph would be too slow so we diverted over the Hoover Dam to catch I-40 back on the southern route. Next time we go by the dam maybe we'll have time to stop for a tour ?
It's now 11:40pm Calif time, 12:40 NM time. After being on the road since 6am we decided to stop. We wanted pictures of the states as we entered them, but it was a little dark. Hopefully a few more 12-14 hour driving days and we will be in Davenport on time.

p.s. Monday morning were calling the person we personally rented the truck from to tell him what a wonderful truck we have after he personally guartenteed that we would have no problems. <g>
