Davenport '98 Day 12 The way home
Our route home this time is taking us on the northern route. While passing through Omaha Nebraska, we felt like we were in Los Angeles, as we were faced with all too familiar bumper to bumper traffic ! |

| While in Omaha, we visited a new friend who was interested in obtaining his first Indian. After showing him several bikes in our mobile showroom, he became the new owner of a '47 Chief. ( I goofed, when we were a mile away, I remembered that I should have photographed the happy new owner !) | |||
After dropping off the bike to the new owners, we were once again on our way home. But as our luck has been on this trip. Within 5 miles on the interestate we ran into trouble once again ! For some reason while I was driving, I felt that something was not right. |

Upon pulling over in the rest stop, we quickly discovered we had a very serious problem ! Luckily we stopped when we did. If we would have continued for a few more miles, we would have had several Indian motorcycles splattered accross the Interstate, as our trailer would have been out of controll ! The steel you see in the picture is a channell rail, and attaches to the underside of the frame. While it goes through the first frame rail, it has a extra weld added. Well the steel actually tore all around the weld ! |

Out of the whole tounge, the only piece holding was the center support of the "A" tounge section. The outer two rails were almost completely torn off. And the middle was also half torn. By the time we got towed off the interstate it was 2am.. |

| We considered ourselves very lucky after today. When towing a trailer with this big truck, you can't really see or feel the trailer, it's just sort of there. But for some reason, we pulled over. Out of this mess, that was our real luck in this situation, because It would have been very aweful if the trailer broke loose from the tounge. The trailer could have carreened into a car killing someone, or a tractor trailer could have t-boned the trailer and it's contents. |
