Davenport '98 Day 10-11
Today, Monday September 7th is our big day for the Kruse Auction. Are bikes are selling on the celebrity day. We have a total of 13 bikes entered into the auction. |

Well, we didnt do very well at the auction. We were originaly told that our bikes would go on the block around 3pm. As it turned out, the bikes didnt go on the block until after 7pm. By that time the majority of the people with $$$ left for home. We ended up selling 2 bikes at the auction. We sold a '40 Chief for $20,100 and a '46 Chief for $20,000. |

After speaking with other sellers we found out that we would have done better to consign the bikes on Sunday when the million dollar cars are selling on the block, or at the very least to sell the bikes before the celibrity cars went on the block. It appears the majority of people left after the celbrity cars.. |

| The other problem with the auction was with the actual auctioner. We were exepecting a certain individual to auction the bikes. He wasnt on the podium when the bikes went through. The people who did auction the bikes, hurried the bikes, and did not try to work the audience for the maximum price. A few more may have sold if they worked the audience. The total of 13 bikes ran through in under 10 minutes. | |||
| Because of the hurried feeling, they offered
to auction the bikes on Tuesdays auction again, 1st thing in the morning. We felt why not
since we were allready their. Well needless to say when Tuesday came, the bikes did not go first, they went afternoon, and the promises were not kept. By the time we packed and left Auburn it was 6pm. And now we are on our way home ! |
